Thank you?for your interest in the?International and Indigenous Languages (IIL) program at the York Region District School Board (YRDSB). We are pleased to welcome you to our exciting program.

  • The program is available to all YRDSB and non-YRDSB students.

  • No prior language experience is necessary.

  • Classes run Tuesday to Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

The program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is intended for students who wish to learn a new language, preserve their own language or enhance their intercultural awareness. There is no cost to enroll in the program, except for a consumable fee. Decisions to run courses are based on sufficient student enrolment and teacher availability.

Elementary Program (Senior Kindergarten - Grade 8)

(NEW!) Online Registration

We are pleased to announce that we are now offering online registration for the elementary program. Registering online will allow you to use your credit card or PayPal account and eliminate wait times and long line-ups. Please note that due to space limitations, registrations will be processed?on a first-come, first serve basis. Online registration will begin on Thursday April 11, 2019 at 4:00 pm and will remain open until Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 11:59 pm.

?The Elementary?International and Indigenous Languages program?helps students develop oral communication, reading and writing skills in languages other than English or French.?

Secondary Program (Grade 9 - 12)

Students in the Secondary International? and Indigenous Languages program can earn up to three credits towards graduation.
